BUILD DETAILS
One of many early drafts.
Consists of a 3/4 pine board sandwiched by two 3/8 HDF boards.
Carpet tape was used to keep the layers together for easy cutting and shaping.
Switch compartment cut out of the pine board.
After shaping and sanding 6 coats of Plasti Dip was sprayed on the grip and main box. This stuff is amazing, love the final finish and feel. Almost as good as leather....
Did not want the D-Pad buttons on the wheel to look like a toy. UltraCote Carbon Fiber covering was used for the CF look.
G27 shifter PC board and some wiring had to be removed to make this work.
Re routed external shifter wire inside the Force Feedback unit.
New wires running inside the end of the column. Tamiya AWG Grease will hopefully keep friction down on the wires...
